GIANT ARIZONA STRIP MULE DEER

Here he is ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the highest scoring Arizona mule deer bucks that was harvested on the draw tag 2013 Arizona mule deer hunts. This giant Arizona strip mule deer buck was harvested by Kalen Joost during the rifle hunt in Unit 13B while being guided by Arizona Strip Guides LLC co-owner Travis McClendon. This tremendous Arizona strip buck of a lifetime definitely has everything you could ever want in a monster mule deer. A giant typical frame, lots of mass, a 32 inch spread, lots of extra points, and tons of character. The Arizona Strip Guides Team had captured this great buck on trail camera and he surpassed all of our expectations when we were finally able to harvest him. Everyone in camp pretty much agreed that this buck was a 220 plus non typical but none of us could have imagined that this buck was truly as big as he ended up being. It was a highly emotional moment for the entire Arizona Strip Guides Team as we finally got to lay hands on this magnificent Arizona Strip mule deer buck. Everything came together and Kalen was able to capitalize perfectly when this giant Arizona strip buck presented a shooting opportunity. In case any of you missed it, this giant Arizona strip buck was featured on the cover of Huntin Fool magazine last month along with a full length feature article describing the exciting hunt that culminated in the harvesting of this giant Arizona strip buck.

Good morning to all of the trophy mule deer addicts that are out there reading the Arizona Strip Guides Blog. Here is an Arizona strip mule deer buck that the Arizona Strip Guides Team is hoping to see this year 2013. This trophy Arizona mule deer picture is from early July 2012 and this buck still had a long way to grow in this picture. 2012 was a very tough year for the mule deer antler growth on the Arizona strip and if this buck made it through the year we are really hoping to see what kind of a buck he will be in 2013. We posted our thoughts on the 2013 Arizona strip mule deer hunting season and our June 2013 Arizona strip scouting report below this post yesterday in case you guys missed it. Hello again folks, we just never get tired of looking at trophy mule deer pictures and we know that you guys don’t either so here is another picture of a great Arizona Strip mule deer buck. This neat looking Arizona Strip mule deer buck only has a 3×4 main frame but this buck more than makes up for it with a great outside spread of 31 inches, good mass, and plenty of trophy room wall appeal. In case you didn’t read our earlier Kaibab Mule Deer Outfitters post from today, we touched a little bit on the low deer densities that hunters encounter when you are hunting trophy mule deer bucks on the Arizona strip. There are not a lot of deer on the Arizona strip and if you haven’t done your homework, and don’t know where to look, you could be in for a very long and disappointing hunting experience. Even if you know exactly where to look the Arizona strip can still be extremely difficult to hunt. Anyone that draws an Arizona strip mule deer tag needs to go in with the mindset that this is going to be a very tough mule deer hunt no matter what. Sure, sometimes you can have some great luck and tag out on a monster mule deer right away but most of the giant bucks that get harvested on the Arizona strip are very hard earned and came about by an extreme amount of effort. I think one of the most common phrases that first time Arizona strip hunters say is “This is not what I expected”. The area is absolutely huge and a good way to describe the vast mule deer country that is found on the Arizona strip would be “Overwhelming”. This area is GIGANTIC and there are very low numbers of deer in it. Trying to find a giant buck on the Arizona strip can sometimes be like trying to find a needle in a haystack if you haven’t done your homework.
